Part-­time Lecturer in Hispanic and Luso-­Brazilian Studies

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and the Humanities Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago is seeking qualified applicants for one or two part-time teaching appointments in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Studies during the 2019-20 academic year.

Responsibilities include teaching one or two of the following courses in the introductory sequence to Hispanic literatures: SPAN 21803. Introducción a las literaturas hispánicas: textos españoles contemporáneos in Autumn 2019, and/or SPAN 22003. Introducción a las literaturas hispánicas: del Modernismo al presente in Winter 2020. In 2019-20, the per-course salary is $6,861. This position is not benefits eligible.

Responsibilities will include preparing seminar-style classes, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparation and grading of assignments and testing materials.

Required qualifications are superior proficiency in Spanish according to ACTFL guidelines, and demonstrable expertise (in the form of training, research, and/or teaching experience) in the areas to be covered. Candidates must have a PhD prior to the start of the appointment.
