Position No. 0053401 - Lecturer in Spanish

Position No. 00053401. The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer with an ability to teach all levels of Spanish. The position will start in fall semester 2021 with a one-year contract, and is renewable thereafter. M.A. or equivalent in Spanish required; Ph.D. preferred. Normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. We seek dynamic candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of language and culture courses at the college level, with a willingness and ability to teach in a collaborative, team-taught environment, and with training in second language acquisition and pedagogy. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English as well as experience teaching Spanish at the university level are required. Strong preference for candidates with previous success teaching at the intermediate level. Ability to develop and teach content courses in English, on topics like linguistics or culture of the Spanish-speaking world, a plus.
