Visiting Assistant Professor, Spanish - Specialist in Latin American Literature

The Macalester College Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for a non-tenure-track position, with possibility of renewal for up to two years at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin fall semester of 2021. We are seeking a specialist in Latin American literature and culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a focus on indigenous studies. We would particularly welcome research that focuses on indigenous feminisms and epistemologies, indigenous political ecologies, and/or the convergence of race and indigeneity. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching both Spanish language and content courses. 

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Spanish or a related field (in hand or expected by August 2021) and native/near-native proficiency in Spanish and English. The teaching load is five courses per year. Salary and benefits are competitive.
