Assistant Professor of English (Medieval/Renaissance) – Flagler College

Flagler College is seeking an Assistant Professor of English who specializes in the Medieval and/or Renaissance periods.  Secondary specializations are open, but someone with a strong generalist background and capable of teaching multiple areas at the undergraduate level would be especially welcome, as would the possible ability to teach Fiction in the Writing Track of our Major.

This is a full-time appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, slated to begin in August 2021.  Future promotion in rank based upon review and evaluation of the successful candidate’s teaching, professional development/scholarship, and service in accordance with the College’s guidelines.

The annual teaching load is a 4/4.  The Fall schedule will include freshman composition and a variety of 300/400-level offerings; but in terms of specifics at the upper-division level the department will be flexible to accommodate the strengths/interests of the candidate.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in English.  ABD will also be considered.
  2. Evidence of successful teaching experience, including composition.
  3. Evidence of existing and potential future professional development.

Candidates should submit an application letter, C. V., and statement of teaching philosophy for the initial review process.  All applications received by January 31, 2021, will receive consideration.  The process will remain open until a candidate is selected and later applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.  Letters of recommendation are required upon submission of application.
