Black Children’s Literature (Assistant Professor)

The Department of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University, the flagship campus of the largest and most diverse public university system in the U.S., seeks applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Black Children’s Literature. The successful candidate will contribute to the Children's Literature curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in English or an equivalent field (degree in hand no later than August 2021) and demonstrate potential for excellence as a scholar-teacher, including successful teaching experience, currency within the candidate's field, and/or publication of scholarly research. The normal teaching load is 3/3, including undergraduate courses as well as literature seminars serving our large and distinguished MA and MFA programs.

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
