Instructor of Spanish with a Focus in Hispanic Linguistics

The Department of Hispanic Studies at the College of Charleston seeks a full-time faculty with experience in Spanish language and Hispanic Linguistics. The Instructor is a renewable position, and during the sixth year undergoes review for promotion to the rank of Senior Instructor. The position is benefits-eligible; the salary is competitive.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Spanish, contribute to the Linguistics minor and, when necessary, to the M.Ed. Program in Languages. Teaching load will be 4/4. Candidates with a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment given strong preference.

Position begins August 2021, full benefits and competitive salary. Strong command of Spanish and English required; at least two years of full-time teaching experience preferred. Additional duties may include, but are not restricted to, participating in department and college functions; advising students and clubs; occasional directing of summer and semester study programs in Spain and Latin America.
