Assistant Professor – Fiction
Syracuse University, Department of English, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Fiction). A strong publication record (including at least one novel or short-story collection in print and significant recognition in the form of fellowships, awards or nominations) is required.
We seek a candidate who is committed to teaching culturally diverse curricula and to cultivating literary art enriched by a range of experiences of race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and class. We encourage applicants from underrepresented groups and those who have experience fostering diversity and promoting social inclusion. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required. An MFA (or equivalent) is preferred, but not required. Applicants should have a devotion to literary excellence, an enthusiasm for teaching, and a willingness to play an active role in our program.
