Assistant Professor of English and Asian Studies

The English Department and the Interdisciplinary Studies Department at Kennesaw State University are now accepting applications for a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor of English and Asian Studies to begin August 2021. Applicants should possess expertise in the study of Post-colonialism and/or World literature and Asian Studies with an expectation of teaching in both English and Asian Studies. Strong scholarship along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement is expected of all faculty members in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty will be expected to teach courses in various modalities i.e. face to face, hybrid, and online. Candidates who have expertise in Korean Studies, Pop Culture, and/or Asian film studies will be a plus. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop courses in their areas of expertise in English and Asian Studies.

Responsibilities include:
•Teaching and developing courses in English and Asian studies at the undergraduate andgraduate level.
•Teaching undergraduate survey courses in English and Asian Studies.
•Scholarship/Research expectations appropriate for faculty at an R2 university with“higher research activity” designation.
•Service to the Department, College, University, and professional community is expected.

A PhD in Asian Studies, English, Gender Studies or related field, or the foreign equivalent, is required, as well as a record of effective university teaching and demonstrated potential for research.

The ideal candidate will have an ability to teach in English and Asian Studies. Ability to teach in one of ISD's additional programs a plus—e.g., African & African Diaspora Studies, American Studies, Gender & Women’s Studies, Latin American & Latinx Studies, Native American & Indigenous Studies, Peace Studies, Religious Studies, Science, Technology, and Society.
