The Department of French and Italian at Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor starting September 1, 2020. Teaching load: 2 courses per semester at all levels of Italian. PhD (or equivalent international degree) required.
We seek a colleague in Italian Studies (open to all periods), who shares our commitment to literature, critical theory, textual and cultural analysis, and interdisciplinary approaches. We would be particularly interested in candidates with specializations in Migration and Diaspora Studies, Mediterranean Studies, Environmental Humanities, Cinema and New Media Studies, Italian Thought, and Gender and Sexuality Studies.
Candidates should have a record of demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. Preference may be given to candidates who specialize in more than one field of Italian Studies and/or whose work puts Italian Studies into dynamic engagement with other fields and disciplines. Preference may also be given to candidates who can bridge Italian and French Studies. Native or near-native competence in Italian and English required, and advanced competence in French desired.
