EXPOSITORY WRITING PROGRAM
New York University College of Arts and Science

The College of Arts and Science (CAS or the College) at New York University is conducting a search for a Clinical Professor to serve as both Executive Director of the Expository Writing Program and Assistant Vice Dean of General Education.

The successful candidate will lead intellectual and administrative efforts in creating a dynamic, responsive curriculum that serves the 7,500 students in the College as well as hundreds of first-year undergraduates from NYU’s several professional schools. This person will also play a crucial role in enhancing and championing the paradigms of written inquiry and curricular assessment across the global network of NYU. Moreover, while overseeing the Expository Writing Program, this person will be integrated into the strategic planning and priorities of the College, where general education, among several goals, seeks to improve the skills that undergraduates acquire in critical reading, writing, and argumentation.

This is a Continuing Contract Faculty position at the rank of Clinical Professor in the Expository Writing Program. The initial appointment will be for a five-year term, subject to renewal for subsequent multi-year terms. The appointment will start on September 1, 2020, pending budgetary and administrative approval.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of leading a complex writing program and experience in building program initiatives, as well as excellence in teaching writing at both the first-year and advanced levels.  A Ph.D. is preferred, although candidates with another appropriate terminal degree are encouraged to apply.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications received by October 31, 2019, will receive the fullest consideration. To apply, submit a cover letter that reflects on relevant experience; a statement of your teaching philosophy that includes discussion of your approach to faculty development and program leadership; a cv; and three letters of recommendation. Please apply to the position using the following link: http://apply.interfolio.com/64229.
