Early American Literature Assistant Professor

The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in early American literatures and cultures (pre-1800). Areas of particular interest include (but are not limited to) Indigenous studies, colonialism and contact, Atlantic world studies, hemispheric American Studies, gender and race, early African American studies, and multilingual approaches. We welcome applications that link the study of early American literatures and cultures to interdisciplinary research areas such as disability studies, environmental humanities, law and literature, media studies, food studies, medical humanities, digital humanities or urban humanities.

We particularly invite candidates whose research engages deeply with the collections of The Huntington Library. During the first five years of employment, appointees whose research interfaces with Huntington Library collections will have up to two years of full-time research as a fellow in residence at The Huntington (the second year subject to approval).
