Assistant Professor of English

The English Department of Lafayette College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in writing and rhetoric studies or related field. Desirable areas of specialization include science and/or technical communication, computational approaches to writing and rhetoric, visual rhetoric, or literacy studies. Other possibilities include the history and theory of rhetoric, multimodal composition, and writing across the curriculum. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can connect with college-wide initiatives in data science and/or inclusive STEM education. The position will also include an administrative role in the College Writing Program.

 

The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced writing and rhetoric courses within the major and in the Common Course of Study. The teaching load is 2/2 in the first year, 3/2 thereafter. Research support is generous. The appointment will begin July 1, 2020. Ph.D. by the start date and teaching experience are required.
