The successful colleague will demonstrate excellence in reflective and effective teaching of undergraduate Italian courses and have a vision and commitment to the development of a dynamic undergraduate program. The Department is committed to an inclusive learning environment and to increasing the diversity of the campus community. Colleagues who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, and who can contribute to the departmental ethos and campus climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in these areas.

Teaching responsibilities include an 18-credit annual course load; classes may include University Core courses and advanced seminars in special topics, determined by the department and the candidate’s areas of specialization. All members of the department contribute to and participate in student advising, reflective and effective teaching, department assessment and evaluation, academic citizenship, an active and well-defined research agenda, program development, and recruiting - all of which require near-native/native proficiency in English and Italian in order to be effective.
    
Required Qualifications:
•    Ph.D. in Italian or closely related field with an open field of specialization in one of the following: Cultural Studies, Performance Studies, Mediterranean Studies, Postcolonialism, or Race and Migration.
•    Evidence of effective and reflective college-level teaching in an undergraduate Italian program.
•    Evidence of Italian and English near-native/native proficiency.
•    Evidence in producing professional, peer-reviewed, writing in Italian and English within a well-defined research agenda.
•    Evidence of inclusive, equity- and diversity-minded teaching practices.
