Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities: Modern Arabic Literature

The School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University invites applications for a one-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities, with an area specialization in Modern Arabic Literature beginning July 1, 2021. This teaching and research fellowship offers a stipend of $45,900, with an additional $5000 fund to cover moving, computer and/or research expenses.

Fellows will be affiliated with Tulane’s emerging program in Middle East and North African Studies (MENA - https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/mena) and assigned a faculty mentor. The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow will devote much of their time to developing their research and scholarly writing while contributing to the development of the MENA program by engaging with colleagues and teaching one course per semester.

Tulane University is a private research university located in New Orleans. The university is a member of the Association of American Universities and categorized by the Carnegie Foundation as “very high research activity,” one of only 25 private universities to receive both such designations. Tulane’s School of Liberal Arts, one of nine schools at the university, is comprised of 34 departments and programs, and has identified three strategic pillars for its future excellence: expanding a global liberal arts curriculum and faculty, embracing our dual identity as a major research university and liberal arts college, and forging a deeper relationship with New Orleans and the Gulf South. Additional information on the School of Liberal Arts and its departments and programs can be accessed at http://liberalarts.tulane.edu.
