Writing Skills Specialist

The Department of English at Muskingum University invites applications for a part- time (27 hrs/week) faculty position beginning Fall semester, 2021.  We are seeking a writing specialist to teach composition and to support writing across campus.  The successful candidate will have a dynamic approach to building a continuum of writing supports, including recruiting, training and supporting writing tutors and utilizing a hybrid model of online and face-to-face tutoring. The writing specialist will also provide faculty development and support for the program of writing across the curriculum.

 Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in English or writing; doctoral degree preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • At least two years’ experience providing writing supports
  • Experience providing English as a Second Language writing supports is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to manage resources, communicate effectively, and provide training and support to instructors and tutors across the campus community
  • Commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds
