PROFESSIONAL SPECIALIST – TRANSLATOR IN RESIDENCE

The Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication (PTIC) at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) and the Council of the Humanities invites applications for an appointment as a Translator in Residence for one academic semester, either fall or spring. The primary rank will be Professional Specialist, and the successful candidate will carry a secondary rank of Lecturer if performing teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate for each semester will be an established translator into English with projects currently in progress, and will be expected to contribute to PIIRS, PTIC, the Council, and/or the Program in Creative Writing by teaching in the areas of theory and practice of translation; supervising independent work for the Certificate in Translation and/or Creative Writing in consultation with the relevant program director; mentoring student translators; and participating in other responsibilities as appropriate. The Translator in Residence must also hold weekly office hours.

Persons appointed will be expected to teach on campus when appointed as a lecturer and will be provided with office space on campus. Circumstances may require, however, that the appointment be conducted remotely; a determination regarding this will be made at a later date.
