Director, Academic and Professional Writing Program (Associate or Full Professor)

The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is hiring an Associate Professor or Professor with a specialization in Writing Program Administration. The successful candidate will assume an immediate leadership role as Director of the Academic and Professional Writing Program. Standard teaching assignment for tenure track faculty is 2-2; typical course load while serving in this administrative position is 1-0, based on a renewable, five-year term. (Please note that the Directorship is one of several leadership positions in the Academic and Professional Writing Program through which the successful candidate may eventually cycle—including Director of Writing Across the Curriculum).

The composition program at University at Buffalo is an integral part of the English department and is also part of a growing university- and department-wide commitment to writing. The Director of Academic and Professional Writing will work with assistant and associate directors within the program, department, and college. A PhD and a record of scholarship in Writing Program Administration, Writing Across the Curriculum, Composition/Rhetoric, or closely related field, as well as previous administrative experience is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD and a record of scholarship (appropriate to rank) in Writing Program Administration, Writing Across the Curriculum, Composition/Rhetoric, or closely related field, as well as previous administrative experience.
