Visiting Assistant Professor in French Studies

The French & Francophone Studies Program at Bucknell University invites applications for two full-time, one-year replacement positions at the visiting assistant professor level in French studies to begin August 2021. For one position, we will welcome candidates with preferred expertise in the pre-1789 period. For the second position, the field of specialization remains open, but preference will be given to candidates with strong experience in second language acquisition. For both positions, we seek teachers-scholars who exhibit superior linguistic proficiency in the target language, and who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and high impact educational practices (writing intensive courses, interdisciplinary courses, global learning, etc.) that would appeal to a broad university audience. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education. We invite candidates to explain how issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are brought into their teaching, scholarship, and/or service in their application materials. The teaching load is three courses per semester. A Ph.D. is preferred at time of appointment, but candidates in final stages of completing degree requirements for the Ph.D. will also be considered.
