The English Department at The College of Idaho invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in American and British literature in historicized transnational contextsPreferred primary specializations include the transatlantic African slave trade, the African diaspora, and/or indigenous studies. This one-year appointment begins in August 2021. Teaching responsibilities include a range of writing and literature courses that may include transatlantic cultural formation and literary production. Candidates will have latitude in course focus and design.

The successful candidate will have PhD in hand at the position start date or be an advanced ABD. The candidate will have an active research agenda and demonstrate a passion for teaching in the liberal arts tradition. The teaching load is 3-1-3, which includes an intensive three-week term. The position includes professional development support for research and conference travel.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from The College of Idaho.
