Lecturer and International and Multilingual Curriculum Coordinator,

Norwich University's Department of English and Communications invites applications for a Lecturer and International and Multilingual Curriculum Coordinator, beginning July 2021, to teach eight courses per academic year. In addition, the successful candidate will have service and administrative responsibilities equivalent to one three-credit course release per semester. Some work over the summer and winter breaks will be required for which a stipend will be provided.

Responsibilities include

• Teaching first-year composition courses, including blended sections with some international and multilingual students, and Advanced Academic English I and II.
• Placing incoming international and multilingual students in appropriate writing courses (requires work during the summer and winter breaks).
• Collaborating with the Department's Composition Coordinator, the Coordinator for Multilingual Student Services at the Academic Achievement Center (AAC), the Office of Admissions, and the International Center to support international and multilingual students.
• Assisting international and multilingual students and their academic advisors in selecting and enrolling in appropriate courses.
• Assisting the Department Chair with planning courses for international and multilingual students.
• In coordination with the Department's Assessment Committee and the University Assessment Coordinator, assessing courses for international and multilingual students.
• Enhancing faculty's multilingual writing pedagogy through professional development opportunities such as workshops.
• Administering and maintaining the English Language Accommodations for the department, in collaboration with the AAC.
• Serving on related department, college, and/or university committees as assigned by the Department Chair.
• Keeping current in TESOL best practices, research in second language acquisition, and related trends in higher education. Generous funds to support professional development are available through Norwich University's Faculty Development Program.

Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include an MA in a relevant field (e.g., TESOL, English, Composition/Rhetoric, Writing Studies, Applied Linguistics, or Second Language Studies) by the start date and documented success and experience teaching first-year writing at the college level.

Preferred qualifications include a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., TESOL, English, Composition/Rhetoric, Writing Studies, Applied Linguistics, or Second Language Studies) by the start date and administrative or program coordinator experience in higher education.
