Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Department of Global Languages and Cross-Cultural Studies at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish. This is a full-time, non-tenure track nine-month, position beginning in August 2021.

Candidates must have doctoral level degree in Spanish, or similarly related degree, by the start date of the position. ABD candidates will be considered at the Instructor level until the doctorate degree is finalized.  

Candidates with specialization in Spanish language pedagogy, second-language teaching, heritage language learning, bilingualism, languages in contact or a related field informed by inter and cross-cultural Latin American studies are encouraged to apply.

We seek colleagues with a commitment to collegiality, to the enhancement and expansion of the program as a whole, and to extracurricular activities that serve our diverse student body. Teaching and support areas may include community learning initiatives, interest in leading travel courses to Spanish speaking countries, and developing online courses. Faculty are expected to be committed to diverse and inclusive teaching practices. Currently, the teaching load is 24 credit hours a year.
