Visiting Assistant Professor, French

Position Summary:

 

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures at Rollins, a private liberal arts college in central Florida, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to teach French language courses at all levels and other topic courses, beginning Fall 2021. The position is open to a generalist, particularly those with knowledge of pedagogical content development, second language acquisition, curricular design, and innovative methods and approaches in language teaching.

 

Special preference will be given to those candidates with experience in study abroad, service learning, as well as instructional technology in language instruction. The preferred candidate will be able to make meaningful contributions and increase the diversity of the Department´s course offerings as well as across campus programs, such as African and African American Studies, Middle East and North African Studies, as well as the Latin American & Caribbean Studies.

 

Job requirements:

 

  • A Ph.D. in French at the time of the appointment
  • Native or near-native fluency in French and English
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the liberal arts
  • Verifiable teaching experience in the liberal arts
  • Capability to offer courses for heritage speakers and non-traditional students
  • Ability to contribute to, help foster, and sustain a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins.

The teaching load is 4/4. One-year contract with possibility to renew.
