Visiting Assistant Professor in African and/or African Diaspora Literature

The Department of English and the Africana Studies Program at Tulane University seek to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor in African and/or African Diaspora Literature (including African-American Literature) for a one-year joint appointment with a 3/3 teaching load.  Over the course of AY2021-22, the successful candidate will teach three courses based in the English Department and three courses based in the interdisciplinary Africana Studies Program.   Candidates must be comfortable teaching at least one course that is primarily African-content focused  and one writing intensive course, Writing about Race.  Additional specializations in postcolonial theory or global anglophone literatures or gender and sexuality studies would also be welcome. 

Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in English or related field

Research focus on African and/or African Diaspora Literature

Teaching experience at the university level
