The Department of Languages and Cultures at Loyola University New Orleans welcomes applications from energetic and committed professors of French and Francophone Studies for a full-time, Visiting Assistant Professorship, on a one-year contract to begin in August 2021, with possibility of renewal. We seek a candidate: who teaches and researches a wide variety of Francophone cultures; who can provide leadership and stability for the French and Francophone Studies program; and who promotes collaboration and teamwork. Qualified applicants will: hold a Ph.D. in French and Francophone Studies, or a related field; demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in French (both language and content classes) and in English; and provide evidence of active scholarship and publication. The department is especially interested in applicants who can offer classes from interdisciplinary perspectives such as postcolonial studies, gender studies, environmental humanities, or film and media studies. Fluency in French and English is required. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load (fall/spring semesters) on a one-year, renewable contract.
