The English department at Graceland University invites applications for two full-time positions, a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English and a Visiting Assistant Professor of English. Both positions begin August 2021. Ph.D. in English or related field required by August 2021.  

We are looking for candidates who can help grow the English program and take part in our new interdisciplinary Social Change major and Sustainability major.  Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated teaching success in two or more of the following areas: critical race theory, eco-criticism or environmental studies, American literature, social justice, digital humanities, and creative writing. The 4/4 teaching load includes composition, core English courses, and topics courses based on the candidate’s secondary interests that can appeal to both majors and non-majors.

Demonstrated teaching excellence and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and service is required. We are looking for innovation-minded applicants who 1) can help shape and grow a program and 2) have demonstrated teaching excellence and a collaborative and interdisciplinary commitment to undergraduate liberal arts. 

Graceland University is a small, private liberal arts university, rurally located within an hour from Des Moines and two hours from Kansas City.
