Lectors of Spanish

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University invites applicants for multiple full-time and part-time teaching positions as Lector or Senior Lector I of Spanish, to begin August 2021 or January 2022.  The initial appointment will be for one year or one semester, with the possibility of renewal depending on successful performance and ongoing curricular need.

Responsibilities consist of teaching up to three courses per semester of basic and intermediate-level language courses and developing innovative teaching materials in the context of communicative and post-communicative teaching methods.

The successful candidate(s) will have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, teaching experience showing a strong commitment to language teaching in a humanistic context, with significant training in Second Language Acquisition methodology/pedagogy. Candidates with interest in emerging pedagogical fields, with innovative approaches to teaching in cross-disciplinary contexts, and digital literacy, are strongly encouraged to apply. An MA in Spanish and/or the teaching of Spanish to speakers of other languages is recommended; PhD or equivalent degree at the time of hire preferred.
