Pacific Lutheran University invites applications for a visiting position in creative writing (with a specialization in fiction) and composition at the assistant professor or instructor rank for the 2021-22 academic year.  The successful candidate will teach six courses: in the fall, two sections of our First-Year Writing Seminar (WRIT 101) and one section of Intermediate Fiction Writing (ENGL 329); in our four-week January term, one section of our multi-genre Introduction to Creative Writing (ENGL 227); and in the spring, a second section of ENGL 227, and one additional writing workshop class (in an area of creative nonfiction or screenwriting). Candidates should have an MFA or Ph.D. in creative writing or a related field.  ABD will be considered, but degree must be completed by September 1, 2021 for appointment at the assistant professor level. Experience teaching at the college level is preferred.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and will include a benefits package. The position may be renewable for a second year, depending on successful performance and availability of funding.
