Visiting Assistant Professor of English

The English Department at Rhodes College invites applications for a 2-year position in U.S. Ethnic Literatures to begin Fall of 2021. Rhodes College believes that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as an institution, and we seek to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. We seek a candidate whose research focuses on one or more ethnic traditions in American literature, including Latinx and Latin American literatures, Indigenous and Native American literatures, and/or Asian American literatures. Comparative or transnational approaches are also welcome. Courses will include first-year writing seminars and literature classes in the candidate’s field of study. The successful candidate will join a department of active scholars and creative writers who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. The position includes financial support for travel related to scholarship and professional development. Teaching load is 3/3. Review of applications will begin June 11 and continue until the position is filled. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in English or related field by July 2021.
