Visiting Assistant Professor

The German Section of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Western Washington University seeks applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track, Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2021-22 academic year, starting September 16, 2021, to teach undergraduate German language, literature, and culture courses. The successful candidate is expected to design their own teaching materials and classroom activities, demonstrate active, communicative, and collaborative teaching, and participate in the life of the department. The anticipated full load will be seven courses distributed across three quarters (2-2-3).    

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in German literature/culture, Second Language Acquisition/Pedagogy, or relevant field by the time of appointment, native or near-native proficiency in German and English, and at least 2 years of experience teaching German at the college level. This is a full-time, three-term position. Salary is commensurate with level of education and experience.
