The English Department at Tufts University invites applicants for a one-year replacement in African American and/or multi-ethnic literature 19th-21st centuries. Evidence of superior scholarship and teaching excellence required. Ph.D. must be awarded by September 1, 2021. One or more candidates will be hired, with the possibility of teaching one or more courses each, depending on area of expertise.

Candidates should have a research focus on African American and/or multi-ethnic literature, with the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses and one graduate seminar.

Application requirements: Applicants should submit a letter of application that includes the candidate's activities and commitments in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice; CV; a writing sample (no more than 25 pages); a sample syllabus and course description; and three letters of recommendation, submitted and uploaded directly by the recommenders to Interfolio.
