VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN IBERIAN AND/OR TRANSOCEANIC STUDIES

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California Davis invites applications for a 1 year Visiting Assistant Professor appointment effective 7/1/2021. Research should focus on Spain and/or on Spaces of Iberian colonialism. Applicants should possess native and or near-native fluency in Spanish and have the ability to teach graduate courses. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional promise as a scholar and teacher and have the ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the department.

The appointee must possess evidence of scholarly promise and successful teaching experience in both literature and cultural studies courses. Applicants should have the ability to teach graduate courses as well as a broad range of undergraduate courses. The successful candidate must have the ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students who are working on qualifying exams, honors theses and doctoral dissertations.  A PhD in Spanish and/or related field is required prior to the first day of classes on September 22, 2021.   For full consideration, applications should be received by July 4, 2021.
