Global Media and Information, Assistant or Associate Professor

The Department of International Studies at Macalester College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the interdisciplinary field of Global Media and Information. The appointment will begin September 2022. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. by August 2022. 

At Macalester, International Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach to exploring the dynamics of globalization, focusing on the interconnections of politics, society, culture, economics, and ecology. Successful candidates will have research and teaching interests in fields such as the Internet, global video/television/film/radio, telecommunications, worldwide news and information, or cross-border mediation of ideas and experiences. The history, sources, migration, distribution, audiences, aesthetics, and gender and racial dimensions of media, information, technology and culture are all of interest. Candidates trained in any humanities or social science discipline are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will benefit from interactions with students and colleagues in Macalester's Department of Media and Cultural Studies. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching diverse students.
