Tenure Track Position in Literary and Cultural Studies

The English Department of National Central University announces a position opening for a full-time Assistant Professor (or above) beginning in February 2022. We are accepting applications in all areas of literary and cultural studies, and especially welcome specializations in pre-20th century culture, history, and literature, colonial modernity, and the role of English in the projects of empire. The post-holder will work with colleagues in an interdisciplinary English department with active research centers. We welcome applications from other disciplines and from members of minority groups.

The position carries a three-course teaching load per semester. Course reductions are provided for the first two years of appointment, as the university expects new faculty to complete their first promotion within six years. Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand as well as evidence of strong research performance and excellence in teaching.

Complete applications should be sent electronically and include the following: a letter of intent with a description of future research plans and areas of interest, a current CV, sample syllabi, two recommendation letters, and representative publications. Applicants are encouraged to select representative work published within the past five years. Preference will be given to applications received by July 31, 2021.  Cover letters should be addressed to Professor Amie Parry, Chair, and the application package sent to Jenny Yang at english@cc.ncu.edu.tw .
