Tenured Professor Modern Chinese Literature

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan invites applications for an endowed tenured professorship in modern Chinese literature to begin in Fall 2022. We seek a full professor (exceptional associate professors will be considered) who specializes in Chinese literature from the late Qing through contemporary eras. The successful candidate is expected to teach a range of courses in modern Chinese literature and culture, from introductory undergraduate lecture courses through graduate seminars; to supervise doctoral dissertations; and to participate actively in the programs of the department as well as in area studies initiatives within a larger university community that encourages interdisciplinary efforts.
