Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of English – Literary and Cultural Studies

The Carnegie Mellon Department of English seeks two (2) Assistant Professors (beginning or advanced) working at the intersections of race, gender and sexuality, and literature in the Long 18th Century (1660-1830). Desirable subfields may include performance studies, African Diaspora, book history, and/or transnational studies. Successful candidates must have received their PhD by Fall 2022.

Teaching load is 2/2.  Carnegie Mellon’s Literary and Cultural Studies program is characterized by its integration of interpretation, history, theory, and digital humanities, and by its commitment to diversity and inclusion.  The successful candidate will teach doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate courses, have opportunities to mentor individual student projects, contribute to the Carnegie Mellon Center for Early Modern Print, Networks, and Performance, and join vibrant communities in gender studies and digital humanities.

Qualifications

PhD in English, Cultural Studies, or similar in hand by Fall 2022. Significant scholarly record or evidence of a promising scholarly agenda and evidence of teaching excellence.

Appointment and Rank

Tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The teaching load is 2/2.
