Visiting Assistant Professor / Instructor of French

Knox College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor / Instructor of French during the Winter and Spring trimesters of 2022 (starting January 3, 2022 through the first week of June).This position is a two-thirds visiting position with a full time teaching load during the Winter and Spring 10-week terms (2-2) with the possibility of extension. There are no obligations or compensation in the Fall term.  

The candidate should be a strong language instructor, with a solid knowledge of the French language, both written and spoken. We particularly invite applications from French studies scholars with a demonstrated research and teaching focus in French for the Professions, or French for Special Purposes, or who have experience teaching French courses oriented around community service programs. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in teaching French courses at all undergraduate levels of our proficiency-oriented and inclusive program. Teaching responsibilities will be divided between French language instruction and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The normal teaching load is two courses per ten-week trimester.

Visiting faculty members at Knox are included in the professional and intellectual life of the College. The visiting faculty member will have a modest annual conference travel budget and access to research resources. Pay is commensurate with entry-level faculty positions at the College.
