Assistant Professor in African American Poetry

The Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in African American poetry. We welcome candidates whose work situates the tradition in relation to broader concerns, including but not limited to the following: nineteenth-century African American print and periodical culture, African diasporic literature, American poetry more broadly, contemporary literature, gender and sexuality studies, queer theory, comparative modernisms, and the history of the book. Beyond teaching in the field of specialization, the successful candidate also will teach two courses a year in Columbia's core curriculum, typically Literature Humanities.
