Asst. Professor of Creative Writing (Fiction)--TT

The MFA in Creative Writing program in the Department of English at University of Minnesota seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing – Fiction beginning in August 2022. Our nationally recognized creative writing program is embedded in the Twin Cities, which are famous for their vibrant literary culture. Though our winters may be cold, the community in our program and beyond is warm, welcoming, and full of enthusiastic support for writing and the arts.

Responsibilities include a 2/2 teaching load of graduate and undergraduate creative writing courses, as well as advising graduate students and serving on thesis committees. Appropriate terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in English, creative writing, or a related field in hand by August 29, 2022; significant national publications with at least one book of fiction (a novel, short story collection, or flash fiction collection) in print or under contract, demonstrated potential for future excellence as a fiction writer and teacher, and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity are required. Since its founding, the University of Minnesota's creative writing program has encouraged student writers to work across genres and forms. While our focus for this position is on fiction writing – short stories, flash, and novels -- applicants are welcome to address the full range of their genre expertise.
