Instructor/ Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor (Portuguese)

The Department of Foreign Languages at the United States Military Academy invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track position in the Portuguese program. As an instructor in USMA’s Department of Foreign Languages, you will design and teach undergraduate introductory, intermediate, and advanced language courses in Portuguese. You will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and the USMA mission through performance in the five faculty domains, which include teaching, scholarship, cadet development, faculty development, and service to the profession and Academy. You will lead and guide student research and provide academic counseling and mentorship to undergraduate students (cadets) through in-class instruction as well as through service-oriented endeavors and immersive travel experiences. Expert knowledge of Luso-Brazilian literature and culture required. A PhD in an appropriate discipline is highly preferred and required for initial appointment as an Assistant Professor or higher.
