Assistant Professor Rhetoric and Writing Studies/First-year Composition Associate Director

The Department of English at Oklahoma State University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Writing Studies who will also serve as the Associate Director of First-Year Composition beginning in August 2022, contingent upon available funding. The person hired for this position will teach a 2-1 load with substantive responsibilities in the FYC program including but not limited to recruiting and mentoring experienced instructors who volunteer in the program’s apprenticeship program, working collaboratively with the Director to mentor new and experienced instructors, organizing, leading and/or co-leading pedagogy training workshops. 

RWS seeks an assistant professor committed to writing program administration, as well as the teaching and development of first-year composition classrooms. We are particularly seeking to hire a person committed to anti-racist initiatives.  Their research interests could include writing program administration, and we are especially interested in scholars working in areas such as anti-racist curriculum, disability studies, accessibility, and usability. Applicants should have a PhD in rhetoric and writing studies, broadly construed as composition and rhetoric, professional writing, or technical writing, in hand by August, 2021.

This hire will teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels that are part of the existing rhetoric and writing studies program. This hire will also serve on graduate exam and advisory committees.
