Lake Forest College Department of Modern Languages and Literatures seeks a highly motivated tenure-track Assistant Professor in Spanish Literatures and Cultures to begin August 2022, with an area of expertise in Peninsular and Latin American Literatures and Cultures with a preference for those who specialize in Transatlantic studies. In addition, candidates with a secondary area of expertise in Spanish for the Professions and Linguistics are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. (or ABD status with Ph.D. completed by the start date) in Spanish or Hispanic Studies is required. Candidates should possess outstanding skills in and enthusiasm for teaching all levels of Spanish language, literatures, and cultures. Candidates will be expected to have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and evidence of scholarly productivity, commensurate with experience. International candidates are encouraged to apply. 

 

Specific responsibilities include teaching six courses annually at all levels of Spanish language, literatures, and cultures. Faculty in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures serve on committees such as Education, Global Engagement, International Relations, Latin American and Latinx Studies, and advise various student organizations. Experience with college-level language teaching and integration of classroom technology, as well as familiarity with liberal arts education is essential.
