Chapman University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Spanish within The Department of World Languages and Cultures, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences effective August, 2022.

Requirements for this position include a PhD in Spanish with a focus on peninsular literature and culture; native or near-native fluency in Spanish; demonstrated excellence in teaching literature, culture and advanced grammar courses at the university level; a willingness to work within an articulated program under the direction of the upper-division Spanish program director and department chair, and a demonstrated strong research trajectory, including publications and involvement with professional organizations.

Ability to develop and to teach new classes for our Spanish major and minor programs as well as the major in Global Communication and Spanish and the Latinx and Latin American Studies minor a plus. Field of specialization is open.

Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, service, and advising/mentoring.
