Tenure-Track Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Wabash College Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a Byron K. Trippet tenure-track assistant professor of Spanish, to start July 1, 2022. Requirements include expertise in Peninsular literature (period open), native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, evidence of excellence in teaching, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body. Ph.D. in hand at time of appointment is preferred; ABD status considered.

The successful candidate must be dedicated to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting, to ongoing professional development and scholarly research, and to active membership in a department of modern languages that is committed to the innovative teaching of language and literature in cultural context. Normal teaching load is six courses per year, balanced among language, literature, and culture. Interest in teaching a broad range of courses is expected, including participation in all-college courses. The salary is competitive, and generous faculty development support is available. Support is also available for courses that include short sojourns abroad.

Wabash is home to the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020. Approximately 30% of our students are federal Pell Grant recipients, one-third of our students are first-generation college students, and about 20% of our students identify as domestic students of color.
