Assistant Professor of English, Victorian Literature

Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English specializing in Victorian literature, beginning August 2022. The successful candidate will teach seven courses in literature and composition; depending on the candidate's expertise, there may be opportunities to teach medieval literature, early modern literature, or fiction-writing. Candidates should hold a PhD by time of employment and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates.

Hampden-Sydney College is a selective liberal arts institution enrolling approximately 1000 students. Founded in 1775, it is the tenth oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Our beautiful 1300-acre campus is less than 7 miles from downtown Farmville, home to Longwood University and the Moton Museum, which is listed on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail.
