Assistant Professor in English Composition – Tenure Track

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in English Composition, to begin August 2022. Candidates must have relevant experience and ability to teach first-year composition courses, and should be flexible in their ability to develop and implement curriculum related to composition. Research interests should be relevant to composition studies, in a range of specialties that include rhetoric, composition, literacy education, writing across the disciplines, and/or writing pedagogy.

In addition, the successful candidate will be able to collaborate and work across disciplinary lines, in teaching courses that fulfill the junior-year requirement for writing in the disciplines in various majors. Candidates with expertise in how students learn grammar and basic writing skills are especially welcome. It is also desirable that the candidate be qualified to teach occasionally in related areas such as literature, creative writing, and/or professional writing.

Applicants should have in hand by fall 2022 a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in rhetoric and composition, composition studies, or a related field such as literacy education. The application letter should address college-level teaching experiences and abilities with regard to composition and related areas, as well as research interests that relate to composition studies and/or pedagogy.
