Assistant Professor in Creative & Professional Writing – Tenure Track

The Creative & Professional Writing Program at The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2022. The ideal candidate will have published fiction, poetry, and/or nonfiction with a national press and demonstrate a clear trajectory for sustained publications.  The candidate must hold an MFA degree, PhD with a creative dissertation, or other form of terminal degree in the field scheduled to be completed by August 2022. It is preferred that the candidate will have documented evidence of previous successful University-level teaching experience with undergraduate students.

Additionally, the ideal candidate would demonstrate the ability and expertise to contribute to developing and teaching course sequences in Writing and Healing Arts, Medical Humanities, Narrative Medicine, and/or Working-Class Studies, and related professional writing areas that would incorporate community outreach and partnerships with community organizations.

The teaching expectation for the full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Creative & Professional Writing is four courses per semester.  The candidate should also be able to offer an occasional undergraduate English Composition or English Literature course that studies a genre in which they work, such as Reading Poetry, when needed. Additional duties include developing courses in fiction, poetry, and/or nonfiction; assisting with program practicums; attending readings and other events associated with our program, and in general being a vital, engaged member of our campus literary community.
