Assistant or Associate Professor in Asian American Studies and the Humanities

The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor with particular research and teaching in cultural studies, literature, history, or other allied humanities-driven fields.

We seek a scholar trained in humanities disciplines or interdisciplinary programs such as English, History, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies and related fields. Research specialization is open with special consideration for scholars whose work addresses gender and sexuality studies, law, immigration, politics and activism, racial and social inequalities, or race and indigeneity. Candidates with a documented commitment to working with students or faculty from groups historically marginalized or underrepresented in the field through teaching, mentoring, or administration are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the humanities, social sciences, interdisciplinary, or other related fields to Asian American studies, and is required before the starting date of employment. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession. The anticipated starting date is August 16, 2022; the starting salary is competitive.
