The Department of English at Lycoming College seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing: Fiction. While primary expertise must be fiction, candidates should also be qualified to teach creative non-fiction and introductory composition (which comprises one half of the 3-3 load). Teaching, publication, and service to the college are necessary for tenure, and the successful candidate should be interested in mentoring and collaborating with students. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually, and finalists will also be brought to campus. Applications received by November 1, 2021 will be given full consideration. A post offer pre-employment drug screening will be conducted.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of successful teaching, a writing sample (10 – 20 pages), and unofficial graduate transcripts. Qualifications:

Applicants must possess an appropriate terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA in creative writing) by August 2022.

About the Lycoming College Creative Writing Program:

The Creative Writing Program at Lycoming College currently consists of two full-time faculty members as part of a broader English department with 8 faculty members. The program sponsors both an international literary journal, Brilliant Corners, as well as a student-run literary journal (that will be advised by the successful candidate). Program endowments support regular visits of guest writers to enrich the student experience, including, most recently, Michael Cunningham.
