Assistant Professor of English

Denison University seeks an active creative nonfiction writer and experienced teacher for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of English. The successful candidate must be able to teach a wide range of forms (e.g., memoir, literary journalism, poetry, fiction, etc.) and to contribute to the English Department’s core creative writing courses, to elective offerings within the English major, and to courses within Denison’s new Journalism major. The annual 3/2 teaching assignment will typically include a multi-genre introductory creative writing course, a survey of literary nonfiction that also serves the Journalism major, advanced creative writing workshops in creative nonfiction, and courses that the candidate creates and develops based on their area(s) of expertise. In addition to teaching such courses, this colleague will also be expected to work with and advise senior creative writing majors on their year-long senior projects in some years. We are particularly interested in candidates with additional expertise in the literary traditions of historically marginalized or underrepresented peoples.
