Tenured/Tenure-Track Position in Asian American Literature and Culture

The Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track position in the area of Asian American literature and culture. This search is open to outstanding applicants at all career stages, and the search committee particularly encourages candidates seeking appointments at the rank of advanced assistant or associate professor. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and teaching interests include one or more of the following areas: comparative race, environmental humanities, Indigenous and Pacific studies, performance studies, pre-1900/early Americas, South and Southeast Asia, and transnational Asias. The position entails teaching two courses per semester; one graduate and three undergraduate courses are taught in a typical year.

This hire is part of a multi-department, multi-position initiative in Asian American studies. In addition to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of English, the candidate is expected to play an active role in the University’s Asian American Studies Program (https://asam.sas.upenn.edu/).
